- The Prologue occurs at night in a small study with a balcony. In the study there is a table with a lamp on it and papers are strewn around.
- Act 1 is set at dusk in Don Julian’s living room. It is expensively and tastefully decorated. The room has a balcony and a door leading to the dining room. The dining room is also very luxurious.
- Act 2 is set in the new lodgings where Ernesto has moved. It is sparsely decorated with old and cheap-looking furniture.
- Act 3 is set back in Don Julian’s house.
