This is a three-act play.
Opening stage directions for Act One, translated by Kate Eaton:
‘The setting for the drama is a boudoir complete with dressing table, full length mirror and clothes rail with dresses and dress and
Boudoir, Audience left: Dressing table with stool, full length mirror, and rail with dresses, dress-boxes and hat-boxes piled up. Upstage door leading to the bathroom.
Audience right: sitting room area of boudoir. Sofa, two armchairs, coffee-table with flowers, rug, marble mantelpiece. It is nightime, present day (1957).’
Flora is wearing a wedding dress. Other significant props during the first act are a bow, perfume bottles, a bra and a false set of teeth.
During the second act, candles are lit on the mantelpiece . The general lighting for the stage is faded violet. (less)
