From the stage directions:
‘Facing the audience at the front of the stage is a metal grille, which is not very thick or strong. Behind the grille, the stage is divided into two parts by another grille the same as the first and at right angles to it. A bulb with a white shade hangs on each side. There is also a wooden bench on each side.’
