This is a three act play.

Staging

Suitable props and/or sound effects would be needed to draw the distinction between the village scenes and those set at the royal court. In Act II, Ciro fights a battle on a mountainside at night, and the darkness renders him unable to locate his father, Bato and Filis when they come to find him. Ciro's fall from his horse early in Act III takes place offstage and therefore does not pose any particular challenge in terms of staging. The supernatural visitor later in Act III provides scope for imaginative staging, and could be manifested as a voice, a shadow or an apparition. A comet passes overhead soon after this scene. (less)

Music

Musicians feature in Act III, singing to herald the approaching battle and to hail Ciro as champion. Music could also be used to provide a suitably regal atmosphere for the court scenes, making a distinction between these and the scenes set in the village. (less)
