Located in Barcelona, the Sala Beckett was founded in 1989 by the playwright and director José Sanchis Sinisterra as a space in which to stage politically engaged and challenging theatre. It is commonly seen as a place in which experimental theatre and new playwrights are encouraged. The Sala Beckett is named, with his permission, after the Irish playwright Samuel Beckett.
